Ai Due Fanali

Great location, close to excellent restaurants and nice and quiet as compared to the St Mark square area. A little hard to find w/o directions: from train stn, go L and go over bridge (lots of steps, pack light). Go straight and take the second L, go over a small bridge walk past the church and the hotel is on the L in the courtyard.

Only a short walk from the Santa Lucia Station, you cross the Ponte degli Scalzi over the Grand Canal and you're almost there. The absolute highlight of our stay at Ai Due Fanali is their very substantial and delicious breakfast on the rooftop terrace overlooking the quiet square below. It was quite an experience when the Bell Tower rang at breakfast on our first morning, only a few metres away. Friendly, helpful staff too, wonderful place to stay in Venice.

The room we stayed in was a little small, with a busy walking below our window. Request a room with windows opening onto the square, a view of the Grand Canal would have been ideal!!!

the hotel was closed so the management-who were expecting us-moved us to their other hotel across the square; this review is therefore for the ca nigra resort hotel. large rooms with interesting furniture, super modern and large bathroom pretty garden onto the grand canal. good continental breakfast, with more coffee, pastries etc being offered(rare in my experience);a la carte options available and excellent if expensive
