Плюсы: Great welcome for us and our dog. We upgraded but the room was a bit small and all surfaces seemed to be covered with literature. My only complaint was no gluten free bread for breakfast when they had so much warning including when we arrived. But the staff in the sister restaurant The Loopy Shrew were lovely and welcoming to us including our dog.

Плюсы: The house was lovely, spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. The staff were lovely and helpful and breakfast was great. The produce was high quality, locally sourced, plentiful and well cooked. The house was very cute and it was obvious that all fixtures and fittings were of a high standard. The location was perfect for exploring the town and we walked everywhere.

The produce was high quality, locally sourced, plentiful and well cooked. The house was very cute and it was obvious that all fixtures and fittings were of a high standard. The location was perfect for exploring the town and we walked everywhere.
Минусы: I had booked a garden room as my partner doesn't sleep well, so I thought this may be quieter as it was overlooking the gardens. This was not available on the day of our stay, so we had a room in the main house and our room was opposite a pub. This meant we had lots of noise from passers by and people smoking and talking outside the pub. As the property has traditional sash windows, we could hear word for word conversations. I discussed this with the member of staff on check out who apologised but didn't offer any other solution. The room was much smaller than expected from the pictures on here, so I don't feel I got value for money.

Минусы: I found the brekfast staff unpleasant. It seemed as if he didn't want to be there - he keep banging the plates and cups about - in fact another breakfaster commented upon this. He was quite grumpy. Maybe he should look for a new job. The cleaning lady and the young girl were much nicer.

Плюсы: Breakfast was very poor. menu looked good , unfortunately the execution was amateur. on the menu it stated "eggs how you like them". I asked for 2 soft boiled eggs . they arrived in ramekin dishes , not egg cups. They didn't have any ! they were in their shells and couldn't peel them as they were so hot obviously ! my husband stuffed the napkin into the ramekin and managed to upright the eggs and once peeled they were hard boiled !!! What a faff, eggs and soldiers a staple of a English breakfast how could this go so wrong. on the second day I asked for poached eggs on toast. they came with the poaching liquid on the toast making it soggy and cold, as they hadn't been drained properly, and the eggs were overcooked again !! We were also informed that on the first morning they hadn't any toppings for the yogurt, so that was off!! Your only talking about 3 raspberries , teaspoon of granola and some honey !!! How can you not serve an item on such a limited menu, and there 's a Waitrose down the road for supplies . The decaf coffee was so strong I had to ask for hot water to dilute it, and on the second morning I brought my own le cafetiere and coffee down to the table !!!! I was warned by the staff that the decaf was strong !! it was in fact undrinkable. This hotel has so much going for it, great location, excellent rooms , friendly staff, it really let itself down on the breakfast. My husbands choice on the first morning was good, French toast , however his scrambled eggs on the second morning resembled an omelette and was burnt in places. Unbelievable! I can only surmise that a very junior member of staff was in the kitchen for the morning breakfast service !

Минусы: Stayed in same room a couple of months ago. Walnut. Bathroom still had the same issue with the flush mechanism to the toilet. (It keeps on flushing!) Also this time had two separate power failures in the room in the room at about 7 and 10 o'clock. Some problem with the fuse. Not good and took the shine off the stay a little. Otherwise very good and if the problems are solved it would be back to its excellent best.

Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and they went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. We were staying at the hotel during a house move and they went beyond what I would expect to facilitate some related issues.

The staff were very helpful at all times, e.g. with directions to the Wyle Cop NCP car park which was the nearest and was only a few minutes away, and for providing the wifi password. Nice touch was 10% off drinks in the bar for guests. The Shropshire Gold and Butty Bach ales were excellent, as was the Pravha lager. Ambience of the hotel was very good. Lots of traditional architectural which gave the building real character.

Минусы: There was a private party held on the Saturday evening which we hadn't been informed about. Therefore, we weren't able to have an evening meal nor order any drinks at the bar which was a bit disappointing.

Плюсы: Lovely location. Within minutes walk of all central Shrewsbury sites (we walked the 10 mins or so from the railway station). Easy to find yet in a winding network of little streets and next to St Alkmunds Church. Much to do, with some great museums, visitor attractions and many shops, pubs and eating places nearby. A comfortable room; checked in early; excellent breakfast. Room a little on the small side but well furnished with a nice bath and shower room. No problems whatsoever and would certainly recommend it. Tip: ask for Room 103 for its lovely views. A standard double.

Плюсы: I stayed at the Lord Hill for work. I was allocated a room in the Lodge building to the rear of the hotel. The bar and reception area are nicley decorated and furnished; the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was particulalty accommodating in allowing me to leave my car before check in, and after check-out. I enjoyed my evening meal of vegetable Wellington, which was served with some very nicely cooked vegetables on the side. I didn't try the cooked breakfast, but I did enjoy the very pleasant cold

Плюсы: I stayed at the Lord Hill for work. I was allocated a room in the Lodge building to the rear of the hotel. The bar and reception area are nicley decorated and furnished; the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was particulalty accommodating in allowing me to leave my car before check in, and after check-out. I enjoyed my evening meal of vegetable Wellington, which was served with some very nicely cooked vegetables on the side. I didn't try the cooked breakfast, but I did enjoy the very pleasant cold
Минусы: While the room was neat, clean, and perfectly comfortable, it is perhaps getting to the point that it could do with a refresh of the decor. Sadly, it's unlikely to happen: the Lord Hill has been sold, and will no longer be operating as a hotel from 2020. This is a real shame - the Lord Hill has long been an excellent stopping point for those of us who have business at the Shire Hall end of Shrewsbury.

Минусы: The whole hotel is tired, the receptionist would frighten Dracula and the bar offers nothing for the serious drinker. Strongest bitter at 3.8% is comical. No bottles bitter or IPA.

Плюсы: Very close to the centre of town, yet quiet - even on a Saturday night. My room was on the top floor at the back, so no disturbance from either the bar downstairs or the street. The room was small but had everything I needed and the big shower was great. Public parking in Frankwell car park was less than five minutes walk away and free from 6pm Saturday and all day Sunday. Checkout at 11am left plenty of time for breakfast in a local coffee shop. Walking back to the Exchange at 11pm on a Saturday night on my own felt perfectly safe.

Минусы: Booking in was made difficult by another customer demanding to know about parking while the member of staff was trying to alter our booking which appeared incorrectly as 2 double rooms for either one or two nights. The member of staff ignored us and dealt with the interupter. Room had a bath, no shower, and the water was so tepid that we boiled kettles to try to keep clean in about 3 inches of water. We were by the kitchen extractor fan which would have been noisy if we hadn't stayed out late at folk festival events
