Плюсы: We loved our stay at São Lourenço do Barrocal. The location outside Monsaraz was wonderful. The design was historically rustic, but very modern in all the right ways. I would highly recommend it for a couple getaway or family vacation. Our room was spacious and well-appointed with a comfy bed, plenty of space for luggage and dressing, a bathroom with dual sinks, a soaking tub, and separate shower. The room was very quiet and opened to a terrace overlooking the wine facility and rolling hills beyond. The pool area was amazing and peacefully. With two separate pool spaces, there was plenty of space for guests to be part of the crowd or find a quiet corner to relax. I especially liked the bar near one pool to relax with a drink and soak up the sun. The staff were very friendly and attentive and provided for every need. The onsite dining options were great. I would highly recommend the outdoor grill when open and available. The food was great and can't beat eating under the stars. The freely available bikes for exploring the surrounding landscape was a nice touch. We did a morning ride on some trails to enjoy the surrounding vistas. Also, the onsite spa is amazing. Strongly recommend scheduling a soak in the giant wood spa.
Минусы: Nothing of note. Only a recommendation to extend wifi to the parking area for GPS mapping reasons to enable guests to drive to local sights.

Do stay there. Great Location to explore the vineyards and Monsaraz. Susanna has fluent English. If you do not like animals not for you. The meerkats, llamas and other exotica make it very special.

Плюсы: Great welcome by Susana. We were a bit early but could check in immediately. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Nice attitude towards the animals they care for. They even switched off the light in the garden so that we could admire the starry sky even better. Nice view on Monsaraz and the lakes of the Rio Guadiana. Would definitely recommend this location for a stay in Alentejo

Not only it's located closely to several attractions (Monsaraz castle, Alentejo lake, wineries, distilleries, cork plantations, Evora town, observatory, water and motor sport centers), it also has an authentic and inviting atmosphere. The owner, Sergio, is very helpful and responsive. He is passionate about the region and knows quite a lot about it. The pool is a great place to hide from the heat at day and sip wine nearby by night. The breakfast is simple, but very good.

The family hotel vibe suited us well (note, this is not a big chain hotel, so don't expect picculos and such). All in all, a very relaxing enjoyable stay.

Минусы: It seemed to me the hotel doesn’t have control over the guests and has a hard time enforcing basic rules specially regarding noise and children behavior. When you booking it’s better to confirm in advance if they have big groups. You may end up being faced with a big group that doesn’t respect the other guests and the hotel staff has little control over them.

Our room was comfortable and cozy with the fridge stocked with local wine. Breakfasts were delicious with plenty of selection.

Плюсы: Super Nice staff, great breakfast, beautiful location. Basically no extra sound than nature, very relaxing. Our kids loved the pool and to pick up the oranges. Monsaraz is 5 minutes away with the car and it’s absolutely worth one day visit.
Минусы: Quite some light goes through the sealing which helped our kids to wake up very early! If you sleep normally, you should be fine.

Минусы: A bit pricy for a mid of the week stay end of November, even if the satisfaction expectation was exceeded. The shower towels could be a bit bigger, to the lack of shower robes.

Плюсы: The Horta is a luxurious ranch style building set amongst 800 acres of game reserve and vine with extensive gardens and pool and accomodates either groups in up to ten double rooms or single long or short bookings. The gem is Maria who is a local girl who provides a quiet unobtrusive service to her guests. The Horta is situated in remote countryside but within striking distance of all mjor towns on intrest and close to Evora. A real treat.

We loved the pool area, the breakfast buffet and our room, which was clean and comfortable. The reading lights by the bed were super. We stayed two nights and felt right at home. Great hospitality.

Регион знаменит своими винами и такими традиционными блюдами, как асорда-де-пеише-ду-риу (традиционное рыбное блюдо на основе хлеба) и боло-рансозу (пирог с миндалем и кабачком). I expected this to cause problems but the owners and family were so helpful and accommodating, whilst the quality of the accommodation was not high on my priorities if it had have been I would not have been disappointed.
Минусы: The fact I was only able to spend a short time here, would happily have spent longer.

The bedroom is spacious, airy, the air conditioner worked well in cold mornings, the shower has good water pressure. The breakfast room very welcoming with outdoor sitting as well and great coffee.

Минусы: The staff were indifferent, unresponsive almost to the point of rudeness. This was a really unusual experience for us. We live most of the year on the road in small hotels and inns, and hospitality like this is quite rare in our experience.

Да и сама крепость, внутри которой расположен отель - очарование, как в сказке побывал. Но мы приехали вечером, а уехали утром, и, видимо, не застали больших толп туристов.
Минусы: Не очень понравился завтрак, который оплачивался отдельно: не было омлета, хлопьев, мюсли. Только хлеб, сыр, ветчина,, кофе, сок. Так же вечером было проблематично поужинать - в крепости немного ресторанов, и они были заняты.

Минусы: The sofa in our room look like there had just been a party or people had slept on it and all of the pillows were mushed and not fluffed. There was lots of mold in the bathroom and not any soap at all, very musty and kinda dirty.

Плюсы: We thought that the manager was very good, went out of his way to please and enjoyable to speak with. We loved the location, it was quiet, easy access to the village and was a unique property.
Минусы: We felt the the property could be cleaner, the bathrooms had mildew in the showers and the sinks and floors were dirty. There was no amenities in the bathrooms or even in the room. The carpets on the stairs were very dirty and the property needs a really good heavy cleaning. The bedding had stains on them, and the wifi didn't work in the rooms.

Плюсы: Очень необычный отель, который находится внутри замка, в самом центре. Его создала испанская пара, оформлено со вкусом, необычно. Всюду картины хозяина. Через 10 лет они продали отель, но он не потерял своей изюминки. Сейчас зведует отелем колоритный мужчина из Румынии. На верху есть небольшая верандочка, где очень уютно и можно понаблюдать ночью за звездами. Симпатичный завтрак.
Минусы: Мухи на столе, где завтрак.

Плюсы: The location is very good.You have good access to the city, restaurants and the main visiting points. The decoration is really interesting, makes it a boutique hotel of sorts.
Минусы: Breakfast was really poor, both in presentation and quantity. Some rooms, although well decorated, have a very difficult access, which is understandable in an adapted house. Ours had a couple of very steep steps beteween the bedroom itself and the bathroom. The cleanliness was terrible. Dust and mold everywhere. And the person in charge, Raul, although kind, had a very unkempt aspect, to say the least...

Плюсы: We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the experience of staying within the castle walls. Quality options for meals close by was a bonus and the sunset from the castle just gorgeous.

Плюсы: The manager/owner (not sure) was very definitely quirky with an odd sense of humor, but turned out to be quite delightful and very helpful. The buffet breakfast was wonderful and a definite surprise.
Минусы: My particular room (Macau) did not not a view - in fact the only window was a porthole affair high up (almost like a skylight), and very tiny - perhaps a foot across. Wasn't thrilled with that!

Плюсы: We were very impressed with the warm welcome we received from Rita.. Her recommendations regarding restaurants and attractions in the area were excellent, especially watching the sunset from the ramparts of Monsaraz. Breakfast was exceptional and it was too bad that we couldn’t stay longer as we would have enjoyed relaxing around pool for another day.

Плюсы: It was a great experience. Such a beautiful setting. Lovely rooms with doors to the garden and swimming pool. Breakfast was Excellent and Susanna made it with her personal touch. Do stay there. Great Location to explore the vineyards and Monsaraz. Susanna has fluent English. If you do not like animals not for you. The meerkats, llamas and other exotica make it very special.

Плюсы: Great welcome by Susana. We were a bit early but could check in immediately. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Nice attitude towards the animals they care for. They even switched off the light in the garden so that we could admire the starry sky even better. Nice view on Monsaraz and the lakes of the Rio Guadiana. Would definitely recommend this location for a stay in Alentejo

Плюсы: We loved our stay at São Lourenço do Barrocal. The location outside Monsaraz was wonderful. The design was historically rustic, but very modern in all the right ways. I would highly recommend it for a couple getaway or family vacation. Our room was spacious and well-appointed with a comfy bed, plenty of space for luggage and dressing, a bathroom with dual sinks, a soaking tub, and separate shower. The room was very quiet and opened to a terrace overlooking the wine facility and rolling hills beyond. The pool area was amazing and peacefully. With two separate pool spaces, there was plenty of space for guests to be part of the crowd or find a quiet corner to relax. I especially liked the bar near one pool to relax with a drink and soak up the sun. The staff were very friendly and attentive and provided for every need. The onsite dining options were great. I would highly recommend the outdoor grill when open and available. The food was great and can't beat eating under the stars. The freely available bikes for exploring the surrounding landscape was a nice touch. We did a morning ride on some trails to enjoy the surrounding vistas. Also, the onsite spa is amazing. Strongly recommend scheduling a soak in the giant wood spa.
Минусы: Nothing of note. Only a recommendation to extend wifi to the parking area for GPS mapping reasons to enable guests to drive to local sights.

We loved the pool area, the breakfast buffet and our room, which was clean and comfortable. The reading lights by the bed were super. We stayed two nights and felt right at home. Great hospitality.
