неудобный номер шумновато на улице неважная сантехника
Clean up the rooms better
Room was clean and updated. Steigel was delicious.
Only complaint, called and asked the front desk for extra pillows and we never got them.
The housekeeping staff did a good job restocking the room each day.
I booked online, and was offered an upgrade to a "Cabana Suite" for a holiday weekend. Mia culpa, I did not do extensive research since I know that a cabana is usually poolside and a suite is usually a large hotel room with a sitting area as well as a sleeping area. The El Cortez Cabana Suites are neither. It's an older looking motel that has had the name El Cortez slapped on it. My room was no more than a Motel 6 hotel room: a king bed, a chair, a desk with one of those metal-and-vinyl chairs you see in schools or churches, a dresser that you couldn't access because the mini fridge prevented the sliding doors from opening on one side (where the drawers were). The bathroom did have a nice shower, as some pointed out, but the location was behind the parking structure for the actual El Cortez Hotel. There was a security guard outside the door because the neighborhood was more than a tad sketchy. We couldn't have guests without coming to the lobby to open the door for them - they wouldn't buzz in our friends. When checking in (with bags in hand) they made me fish out my room key before buzzing me into the lobby; it was not very welcoming. Yes, there is candy on the lobby desk, but the person sitting at the desk almost didn't smile once in three days. Often at night it was a security guard talking on her phone with friends and didn't even look up to acknowledge us. I felt cheated out of a promise made by the name of the hotel - if you're going to offer someone who starts to book a room in the casino tower a "cabana suite" as an alternative, then it better have a pool or be an actual suite. A renovated Super 8 Motel is NOT what I think of when I read "El Cortez Cabana Suites". Had this hotel been $50 a night, I would have been tipped off, but at almost $200 a night for the holiday weekend (including their nightly "Resort Fee"), I was expecting MUCH more.
Staff nice, free shuttle to airport, easy to navigate
Air conditioner was weak, room stayed too warm to sleep until middle of the night, could hear music until 5 am
Enjoyed my stay.
Room could be cleaner. AC needed to be cleaned as well.
That I had a roof over my head
The location, good place near Fremont Street
The air conditioning is poor. During the day the room becomes uncomfortable and at night it’s okay
Low room & resort fee price. Free parking, secure building, surrounding neighborhood has gotten better.
I missed having a microwave in the room (was expecting one). No popcorn at night.
The Retro Style Rooms in the Cabanas. Personal touch and it just set the mood for Vegas
The rooms were quiet. Location was convenient.
The shower fluctuated between scalding hot and too cold. I coouldnt ever find a comfortable temperature.
good value. i like the atmosphire of the older casino.
the room was too close to the elevators. it was noisy some times
Felt very safe when walking to Fremont Experience.
Spacious Rooms, very comfortable. The hotel had a kiosk to check in for my airlines. Staff was friendly. Price was affordable.
I called and was told no shuttle to/from airport, but found they do offer this service. Staff needs to be more informed.
The El Cortez is a nice casino with pleasant clientele. 5-dollar single deck BJ, 3-dollar double deck BJ. Low stakes roulette (.25 chips, one-dollar minimum). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the heart of downtown. We stayed in the Cabana Suites which was a great deal. The quality of the room was substantially higher than the price we paid.
One knock on the casino, though not a big deal, was that the dealers weren't crisp. The roulette dealer had to search for the number on the table each time, instead of knowing where it was. If all the numbers were covered up, this could take as much as 6-7 seconds for her to identify which number was the winner. The BJ dealers frequently had to take extra time to total the cards. I once placed a 2-dollar bet, by mistake, on a table requiring 3 dollars. I was the only player at the table, but the dealer didn't notice until after the hand was completed.
Bartenders were rude, and the cafe made a big production about a 1 dollar piece of bread, it was riduculous after we had just spent $600.
Great hotel and good location, helpful staff, would stay again.
every thing was excelent had agood experience will also stay here in aug.
no seat in the shower.
The non-smoking room was clean, convenient and nicely furnished. The complimentary shuttle back to the airport also was convenient.
The room was chilly and the heating did not seem to work. The drain in the bathtub/shower probably was clogged given the slow drainage.
Everything. Price and comfort was good. :)
