Casa de Estoi

Останавливались на одну ночь. Вечером приехали, утром уехали. Гостевой дом - это что-то невероятное. Не дом, а музей. Очень много антиквариата. Все гармонично и создаёт неповторимую атмосферу. Правда надо смириться со скрипучей кроватью)) Завтрак хороший. Персонал приветливый. Провели экскурсию по дому.

The location of the guest house was perfect by the central cross-roads in Estoi: only a short walk down the road to the Roman villa (very good site with very helpful, knowledgeable staff); an even shorter walk over the road and past the church to the grounds, gardens and gilded state rooms of the 'pousada' and a yet shorter walk to the bus stop in the opposite direction for the bus to the central bus station in Faro. This journey takes 25 minutes and the bus station is close to the harbour for birdwatching boat trips (excellent if your interests lie that way). Faro Old Town is adjacent to the harbour. There are several buses a day. The guest house is a converted, large, old Portuguese family home with much original furniture. This is all very well kept and maintained. It's a unique experience to step back in time and place. There is a small pool in the courtyard garden with very good quality wooden sun-loungers – great for a little relaxation. The owner of the guest house is exceptionally informative and helpful with good suggestions for restaurants, getting about and things to see.

Catarina was the perfect host. This family home is quirky, charming and has a history. Beautifully furnished. Great breakfast. Very cosy and welcoming place to stay.

A lick of paint in the courtyard and around the balconies would not go amiss.
